Yacht Timer

A couple of days ago, I put up a post on the Velatura Direct Drive. The Velatura line is made for yachting and here’s the Yachting Timer model in the Velatura line.

Many years ago, Seiko made a Yacht Timer using the 8M35 movement. Here’s one that I handled. Of course, the two watches are worlds apart in terms of build quality. The 8M35 model looks simple and uses a plastic bezel while the Velatura model looks expensive. Besides the 8M35 Yacht Timer, I remember there was a Soccer Timer that is powered by a similiar movement (i believe it’s 8M32). In fact, Seiko made a series of interesting watches with the 8M movements.

If you own a Yacht Timer like the one above, don’t throw it away, it’s a piece of Seiko history.
