Watch Handling: Seiko 5 SNZE59K
Handled this Seiko 5 Sports 100 recently. Like most Seiko 5’s, this model comes in different dial colors as well as gold tone, ss and black anodized case. This particular combo is my favorite among the bunch. It has a black anodized bezel that provides adequate contrast the stainless steel case. This is a racing style watch and somehow I feel ss bezel on ss case or anodized bezel on anodized case doesn’t make the bezel stand out.
Other things I like about the watch include:
– the design of the bezel
– the applied chrome markers particularly the 6,9,12 in Arabic numeral
– the racing style second hand which is the same as those found on the vintage Seiko chronos. Yellow, orange or red is fine with me.
– the knurled crown
These design elements give the entry level 7S36 watch the look and feel of a racing style watch. Perhaps some racing stripes on the dial from the 12 o’clock to 4 o’clock (or 3 o’clock) would make it look even nicer.
Watch has 22mm lug width and comes with a folded link metal bracelet. With the standard lug, it should not be too difficult to get an after market racing strap for it.
