New Citizen Automatic

Saw on a Citizen site that there is a new Citizen automatic watch that features a 24 hour hand. The watch is installed with sapphire crystal and comes with calf leather with butterfly folding buckle. It is rated water resistant to 100m.

At this point, I do not know the calibre number and whether the 24 hour hand can be set independently.

This is not a Japan domestic model and should be available in the local market anytime soon.

There are 5 variants and I have included two of them in this post.

I\’m liking these, however the sweep second hand is perhaps a bit \’too\’ styled.

ok i love the looks of it already especially the rose gold one.though i am willing to bet (not that i\’m the betting type) that the 24 hour subdial isn\’t setable.

Jules, I agree that the 24hr hand will be impossible to set independant of the primary time display. They are running the 24hr hand off the wheel that indexes the date wheel…so it\’s all mechanically linked and not variable.

I don\’t know if this is a new calibre or a modified Miyota (most likely) but it is interesting to see that Citizen is offering more mechanical watches.Here\’s another one I posted a while ago:http://yeomanseiko.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!3318BA07329CD633!2478.entry

Hi ThomasThanks for posting some information regarding Citizen. I\’m getting more curious about this Eco Drive technology. based on what i believe it is moving like quartz, however an advertisement in youtube shows an Eco Drive that moves smoothly like an automatic watch. I would like your opinion regarding this and again thanks

Hi eRwin, Eco-drives are quartz watches powered by light. I have never seen an Eco drive watch that moves smoothly like an automatic watch. The ad you saw on Youtube could be a Spring Drive ad.

The watch in the ad looks like an animated watch to me.
