Scratched Samurai

Here’s a scratched Seiko Samurai that belongs to my cyber friend, Gary. As you can see, there is a scratch on the crystal that starts above the 12 O’clock marker and ends somewhere near the 5 O’clock marker. There is also some serious chipping on the bezel insert near the 25 second marking.

Here’s the breakdown of the cost if watch is sent to the Seiko Service Center in Japan to have the damaged parts replaced:

Bezel: JPY9,030 (Seiko does not sell bezel insert alone, remember?)
Crystal: JPY3,780
Technical charge: JPY4,200
Total: JPY17,010
(about USD182.25)

The above does not including shipping cost.

After replacing the damaged parts, they will test it to its original specs.

I guess this would water resistance and accuracy test.

Seems expensive, but if they do it all perfect with the pressure test, it\’s not that bad. I really doubt that you will get a regulation done in that service, if you needed one, now is the time to ask.

The watch belongs to my friend and last I heard, he has decided to go ahead and send it to Japan. It is impossible to purchase the Ti bezel anywhere except from Seiko Japan.
