Old Seiko Quartz – Plastic Bezel

This old Seiko quartz that I stumbled upon at jwwatch.com reminded me of some old catalog pictures that I was supposed to post.

I have posted old catalog pictures including the AOD series and the Kinetic Sports 200 series, etc. This series posted below was known as the "Young Sports Series". I am sure the pictures are not complete because I can’t seem to find the above watch in my catalog.

Citizen to launch three Eco Drive watches in SG

Read in the news that Citizen Singapore will be launching three Eco Drive watches. Interestingly, one of them is a radio controlled watch even though radio waves are not available in Singapore.

Here’s the news clip:

This watch became rare

Several years have passed and this limited edition Seiko Brightz has became rare.

I had a email from someone asking where he might be able to get hold of one. Chances are quite slim but not impossible even though the watch is limited to 500 pieces. I believe more than 90% of the 500 pieces are still in Japan since this is a Japan domestic model. Therefore a good place to look will be Yahoo Japan Auctions.

Talking about limited edition, my favorite biscuit now comes in a limited edition tin. Anyone collects biscuit tins?

SARC005 pics from a reader

Fellow Singaporean, Chiew Wah shared with me pictures of his SARC005. This watch features the high beat 6R20 movement that has day and date subdials and power reserve indicator.

My next purchase

I got my SARB031 on Christmas eve last year and this December, I will be getting its Roman cousin, the SARB043.
Watch will be launched in December 2008. Let’s see which day it arrives.

Today’s picture: Samurai Group Shot

The other day I posted my latest purchase, the blue Samurai and someone asked me for a group shot of all my Samurai’s. So here they are, three Ti and one SS Samurai’s.

More New Models from Seiko

Just came back from dinner with a Japanese watch trader from Japan. Here are some new models I saw on the 2009 catalog and they will be released in December 2008.

First, a blue dialed and a two-tone variant added to an existing SARB model. Actually, these are not exactly new models but new dial variants added to existing model.

Next, two Roman dial variants added to the classic minimalist design, also known as mini Grand Seiko. Note that they are installed with a different set of hands this time. I am very excited about this model. White dialed version for me.

After two beers, I forgot to take down the model numbers and my photos started to get out of focus.

And here’s what the guy was wearing. A Yellow Stone National Park Limited Edition Citizen Eco-drive watch.

Wearing the Sumo tomorrow

From what I gather, the general feedback of the new Ti diver featured in my previous entry is that it is overpriced. Some are not impressed with the design, particularly with the use of the monster hands.

Looks like it is confirmed that the Ti Samurai’s are discontinued and I believe there will be an increase in demand for the Sumo since it is now the lowest priced JDM automatic diver available.

With the announcement of the new Ti diver, suddenly, I felt like wearing the Sumo tomorrow. Could be a sign that I am interested in the new diver. The design is not an issue for me. Price is an issue though. The equation looks like this:

1 new Ti diver = 2 Sumos

Anyway, here’s my orange Sumo. Ready for tomorrow.

New Models from Seiko

Here’s a new Ti 200m Prospex scuba diver that will be released in December 2008.

The case design of this new model seems to be based on the Mechanical model, SARB021 which quite like the Samurai.

According to the site above, the list price is 126,000 Yen. List price of the Sumo is only 63,000 Yen (inclusive of 5% Japanese tax). That means this new model is double the price of the Sumo. Really need to find out what’s so special about it.

And here are two SARB and SARC models that will be released in November 2008.
