New Orient GMT – International model

Orient unveiled a new GMT model on its website yesterday. There are four colour variants.

This is an international model and is probably a replacement model for the discontinued model shown below. Both watches are powered by the same 46P40 movement but unlike the old model which has an inner rotating 24hr bezel controlled by crown at 4 o’clock, the new model has the 24hr markings incorporated into its compass bezel. Hence, there is no need for the additional crown. The new model also has a higher water resistance rating of 200m compared the old model which is rated to 100m.

The combination of compass bezel, GMT feature and 200m watch resistance reminds me of Seiko’s Landmaster watches. The Orient has stainless steel case though.

Here’s the discontinued model:

Orient 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch – DT00002W

Orient celebrated its 60th Anniversary on 13th July 2010 and a “60th Anniversary” limited edition watch was released to commemorate the event. There are two variants of the watch, one with stainless steel case and another one with a gold(4 micron) plated case.

Each variant is limited to 1500 pieces worldwide and I am privileged to be able to pick up the stainless steel variant.

Here is a quick and dirty cellphone shot. Better pics to come later.

Orient released a book as part of their 60th Anniversary celebration. For those in Singapore, Big Time@Sims Ave has a copy at their showroom. You can flip through it when you visit them next time.

First hand look at the Orient X STI limited edition watch

The Orient X STI collaborative watch is now available in Singapore and I had the opportunity to take a look at it. Please check out my post at the link below:

Orient X STI Limited Edition available in Singapore

For those in Singapore, the Orient X STI collaboration watch is now available at Big Time, the distributor of Orient watches in Singapore. This watch is limited to 1000 pieces worldwide and only a small quantity is allocated to the SG market.

Another Orient Rectangular Watch

Here’s another Orient rectangular watch that I handled recently. Unlike the power reserve and open heart models, this is a basic model with day/date display at the 6 o’clock position. It has curved crystal and a loupe above the day/date display.

Orient 3 Star

Here is an Orient 3-Star model I saw recently at Big Time. It reminded me of a Seiko 5 model that Seiko released several years ago. Orient 3-Star models are considered entry level for Orient watches just like their Seiko 5’s counterparts. In Singapore, you can find them at Big Time as well as Mustafa.

Orient Large Rectangular Watch – LERAG001B

Besides round shaped watches, Orient makes a number of rectangular
and tonneau shaped watches and I have looked at a couple of them here
in the past.

This time round, I had the opportunity to look at the Orient
LERAG001B, another rectangular watch by Orient. This model was released
some time ago but it was only recently that I had the chance to see it.

New Orient Model

Saw on Orient’s website that they have introduced a new model in the international market.

This looks like a big watch to me judging from the space between the date window and the edge of the dial. According to the specs, the diameter is 43mm.

The strap, dial and size of the watch make it look a bit like a pilot watch.
